It was really interesting to read about the site actually fielding reports in ships to go and physically record the action. While this could turn out to be a boring job (TiDi, maybe nothing actually happens), the idea of sneaking in to watch a huge fight unfold and report it to thousands of people interested in it sounds like a ton of fun. And for the writers, it's an interesting challenge to take game events and lighten the game-specific vernacular so that these huge fights and corp heist stories can be enjoyed by people who've never (and never plan to) actually play the game, but still like reading about it.
Man, its good to here EVE is still going strong. It's one of those games I have always wanted to pick up but have hesitated in doing so because of how many other large franchises I am already...

There are only so many universes I can fit in my head.
Currently all the major powers are allied, and are beating up on any organizations trying to break out. My whole alliance got evicted just because other people were bored and wanted to farm kills,...

Simply nothing really happens. You hear of these big battles, but they're so few and far in between and they don't actually matter because the big alliances have thousands of titans now. And all the "fights" are between the 2 or 3 big alliances who are officially at war, but effectively just prop each other up. EVE just has no consequences anymore because those who have lots of cash have more than they know what to do with, and so if you want to do anything you either need to join them or get stomped by them.

EVE, in my opinion, is not in a good place right now. I think you probably made the right call.
Care to elaborate? I've always wanted to play myself, but haven't had the time or equipment

So basically all the fun and escapism is gone because the game is mirroring reality
Yeah lol. It's kinda like the whole world is South America and every alliance is a country taking part in Operation Condor.
