My girlfriend got me a PSVR for my birthday and I'd say this is 100% accurate. I want to like it but it's just not totally there. Granted, my experience is fairly limited - I've just had time to play Skyrim VR enough to get through the first dungeon. Movement is awkward. Graphics are obviously dumbed down. Even the VR rig is cumbersome and tethers you to the television. It makes my forehead sweaty and then the glass screens fog up. Most of the VR games just don't appeal to me, it seems like nobody has really figured out how to use VR to make the experience better.

In a lot of ways it reminds me of the 3D movie/TV trend that seems to have died off.

This, this so much. Even if they'll give away vr sets for free, the technology is still flawed and needing a big empty space is one of the main reasons vr is not as popular as it wants to be. No Ready Player One experience, and to be honest we'll never get as close to that.

Also a lot of people have nausea and dizziness issues. Why would I spend 400-600 dollars for something I don't have the physical space to use, and it could make me feel bad for hours after I use it?

While I don't disagree, I think price is a big issue as well. If it only cost $600, that would be one thing, but in reality you also have to buy a fairly beefy PC as well, meaning that a full VR rig can cost you about $2000. And that's for more basic VR; if you want better tracking or controllers, you will end up spending even more.

Also, as @rkcr mentioned, you need to have space in a nearly-dedicated room to set it up, limiting the audience to people who are somewhat well off. You won't find that kind of space in an average apartment unless you're paying for a second bedroom or don't want to have a living room.

Well, at least for Oculus what is holding me back (i already bought cv1 which i kinda regret) is the software support. They don't give a damn about OS other than windows. Yeah, i understand that windows is the most used and stuff and stuff, but if hardware/software creators don't break this cycle there will never be a change in this paradigm
