Weird that it's releasing tomorrow but you can't preorder and there is no list price on Steam for it yet either:

Wow... I just noticed this from Cabybara Games. They are fellow Torontonians and I loved M&M: Clash of Heroes. Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery was pretty alright, too. Now I am doubly excited to...

And yeah that is really weird they seem to be releasing it without much fanfare.

Side note: seems like a weird trend for games to have their names in all-caps lately.

Yeah, it's kind of annoying but understandable, I guess. It's the same technique that YouTubers use to draw ATTENTION to their VIDEOS. People notice ALL-CAPS far more than they do lowercase.

Goddamn this game is really unforgiving. When you die all your gear is left on your corpse, so you have to recover it all with the next character you play as. I happened to get pretty deep into the caves on my first life before realizing I would lose everything when I died, too... so it took a really long time for me to get back to my corpse because of losing all my gear. It also meant a lot of backtracking after I finally did get it all back because of how much I missed, especially without the lantern which is for more than just providing light. It's a great game though, and I absolute love all that about it, but it can definitely be a bit frustrating when you make a fatal mistake while still learning the ropes. And with that in mind:

"SPOILERS" AHEAD (but are things really worth knowing about, IMO)

    - To save yourself a ton of time getting back to the caves when you inevitably die: When you reach the first campfire in the caves go behind the nearby waterfall, there is a secret entrance there... then go north again through the next waterfall until you reach a drawbridge. Cut the line holding the drawbridge up and that will open up the entrance to the starter beach. Now next time you die you can just go into that new entrance instead of having to climb up the cliffs, run to the caves and go down all the stairs again and again. I really wish I had noticed this the first few times I died. :/

    - You can create a fast-travel point by using 25 light tokens on a campfire, which you will then be able to teleport back to from any other campfire. It's one time use only though.

    - The spear which you get in the waterfall cave area can be used to hunt fish, and fish fillets can make +++ food. Separate from hunger you also have a thirst meter, so make sure to keep an eye on that as well. You can drink directly from any water source though, so as long as you're aware of that you shouldn't die to thirst.

    - The easiest way to get embers is to loot them from previously lit campfires and pyres, so make sure you light them all as you run through the levels. When you return to them later they will sometimes have embers for you.

    - String can be found randomly but also by using the sword leap attack to disarm the tripwire traps. It doesn't always drop string when you do that though.

    - Sticks seem to be the rarest commodity and you need them to craft arrows, fire arrows and torches (stick+string+ember) so loot every one you see and try to hold on to them. BTW, torches aren't just for the comforting light they provide. When you have one equipped it highlights traps for you. Speaking of which:

    - You can permanently disable the insta-death traps (for that life) by tricking the bigger creatures into running into them. And IMO it's absolutely worth the extra effort to kite creatures over to disable them, just so you don't accidentally run in to them and kill yourself while you're backtracking. If there are no creatures around to disable them, leave a light token beside them (down on d-pad) to mark them so you know where they are and don't accidentally kill yourself.

    - If you get hit by the bigger creatures you will suffer some bleeding damage until you use a bandage so it's a good idea to keep them handy as well.

    - And finally, when you get to any of the big rooms in the game, make sure you fully explore them since they often have items, hidden lantern "bits" and other shortcuts you can unlock which you can use to get back there quicker.

This has been in the making for five years and now its finally coming out. It looks pretty promising.

There don't seem to be many official reviews of it out yet (the only one on Metacritic so far is this "in progress" Destructoid review), and Steam reviews so far are "Mixed", but that seems to mostly be due to some technical issues.

It's also available on Xbox One through the Xbox Game Pass, but I don't think the PC version is.
