So the thing they implied but stopped just short of explicitly saying it would be when it launched? Better late than never, I suppose.

honestly i commend them for eventually delivering on their promise, even the game was such a trainwreck on release that it was basically false advertising and it took them nearly three years of patching and updating to get it to where they said it would be. cynical as it is, i think most other video game companies in a situation like that would have just told their customers to go fuck themselves after release day and not bothered.

Personally I don't think they've delivered on what was promised. They suggested a lot of interplay between simulated systems. But the core of the game isn't like that and that makes me uninterested. What they actually did was catered to their fans and continued to develop areas that were doing well.

I might still be cynical but I think they're still scummy. They might not have lied so they could cut and run with all the money. But they lied so they could maximize their profits and continue working on their project. In both cases they lied and misrepresented the game. For that reason I'll continue to be skeptical of any future projects they announce.

Well, i'd ve surprised if you weren't to be skeptical of their next project after what they pulled out during No Man's Sky at launch, some degree of mistrust is to be expected. Having said that...

Having said that though I don't think that Hello Games deserves to be deemed scummy at this point in time; the game was released in the summer of 2016 as a half baked piece of broken promises, but the studio got their shit together and continued substantially developing it into what the players wanted it to be.

Now it's 2019 and they give out periodic dev updates, are active on the game's subreddit and seem to be genuinely interested in putting their best work into it, which is sadly not a given in the industry...

On top of that no bullshit loot boxes, no paywalled DLCs and no microtransactions - this alone is of incredible value.

To tell you the truth just some weeks ago i was looking if right now it was worth the purchase, and both then and now it seems to me like it definitely is worth 15/20€.

I don't see why people are willing after all this time to still shove shit on Hello Games when Bathesda, EA and all those behind the last CoD (to name a few) still manage to hit record sales every time they shove out a loot boxes ridden AAA 60€ remaster.

I actually like the current game a lot more than I expected to after the disastrous launch. Maybe it's not what was promised early on, but it's pretty good for what it is. I'm pleasantly surprised that the team is continuing to iterate on it, even after this much time has passed, and every update is free for players. The sheer commitment they've demonstrated for their product is commendable. I for one am looking forward to this.
