I understand there has been a lot of hate on No Mans Sky and I want to say that I'm not in that camp. However, as much as I wanted to love it, I felt an overwhelming sense of monotony playing it. Even though there were some pretty unique planets, does every crashed ship have to look exactly the same with the underground irradiated supplies in the exact same spot (never made it any easier to figure out which side of the box the door is on though). Or does virtually every ancient monolith need nearby keys dug up to unlock the random seed in the middle? Do the birds in the sky have to circle in the same exact way all the time?

While I'd like these updates to be good, if it doesn't offer a little more diversity I'm afraid it won't be the game changer I really hoped it could be.

That said, procedural generation sounds cool ("millions of unique planets!") but it gets oldcquick since it's just minor variations on a general set of variables. Oh, the sky is now slightly more...

That said, procedural generation sounds cool ("millions of unique planets!") but it gets oldcquick since it's just minor variations on a general set of variables. Oh, the sky is now slightly more pink, technically different. It's a cool argument to have millions of places to visit but l'd rather have like 50 handcrafted unique places.
