"Wide Open World"... Oh, thank God. The first Rage's levels, even all the wasteland driving parts, were so damn linear and confined that I felt like I was playing an old on-rails arcade shooter from back in the day, especially with all the annoying invisible walls everywhere.

I don't mind linear level design if done well. I don't mind games that aren't open-world. I don't even mind close-combat corridor shooters. But RAGE 1 just felt stupidly claustrophobic by taking all three of those to the extreme.

I didn't play the original RAGE, but it's definitely worth noting that this one is a partnership with Avalanche Studios, who make the Just Cause games as well as the recent open-world Mad Max one....

Ah nice... yeah Just Cause and Mad Max are great games and that gives me hope this won't suck. If they can take the amazing lore, humour, zaniness and insanely fast-paced, twitch-style combat...

Ah nice... yeah Just Cause and Mad Max are great games and that gives me hope this won't suck. If they can take the amazing lore, humour, zaniness and insanely fast-paced, twitch-style combat mechanics of RAGE and effectively combine it with the Mad Max driving mechanics and openworld level design for RAGE 2 I will be a happy wasteland camper.
