It’s not even the zombies, it’s the “realistic” open world part that makes this look so dull. Red Dead Redemption 2 turned me off that so much. I got little anxiety flashes in the Days Gone Trailer whenever a long, dragging scene seemed to introduce some random upgrade to his goddamn bike that would likely make it 2% faster or some bullshit. No way I’m sitting through any such game again.
The trailers were really showing off the "hoard zombies" but reading reviews, apparently they don't happen all that often. I was going to buy this day 1 but now I think I might hold off a while.

i'm watching someone play it right now, and honestly it looks super fucking generic and seems to fall victim to a lot of the same issues that most games in its genres do: the plotline isn't that captivating, the pacing is awful, and it looks an awful lot like one of those games where the "open world" aspect doesn't come in until way later. it's pretty well polished at least, and it's a pretty game, but that only does so much to cover up the fact that you could seemingly play literally any other zombie-like game in the past 5 to 10 years and get basically the same experience but better.
