Recommendation - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy

This series has recently been ported to PS4, Xbox One and PC. I never owned a DS but the concept of this game (being a lawyer) was always interesting to me. So I took a chance and currently I'm really enjoying playing through it.

The format is episodes with manual saving so you can play in short chunks. It's mostly a puzzle game with some exploration built in. The story is well crafted and clever imo. I strongly recommend you play without a guide to get the best experience.

p.s. Game Grumps recently started a Phoenix Wright playthrough and it's been hilarious so far.

Is everyone a genius but me? I couldn’t go past the third puzzle on Professor Layton. Thought I should stop playing to study some math or something.

Could the language barrier have been an issue? You're Brazilian IIRC, right? Did you play a Portuguese port of the game or one in English? Because I can definitely see playing the game in my non-native tongue, even one I am reasonably familiar with (e.g. French), being incredibly hard.

But its puzzles are quite dry (it is a puzzle game per se, no caveats) and probably require a kind of logical thinking I'm not used to. The ADHD probably doesn't help (I'm trying to avoid throwing "ADHD" on every game related topic I comment, but this time it seemed relevant).

I like the Professor Layton games, but yeah some of those puzzles are beyond me. At some point, I stop caring about the puzzles and grab a walkthrough because I just want to see the story.

The graphics feel odd at times. It's like they increased the resolution without adding the details that were not necessary on DS's small screen.

      Examples:

      • This was supposed to be an attractive female character, but she's now kinda androgynous and uninviting.
      • This lacks details on the borders. Feels more like vectors than actual drawing.

I'm not sure that watching a full lets play is a great idea for this game, maybe just for the introductory episode to get a feel for how thing work.

In my region, this game costs almost twice as much on the PS4 compared Steam... I'll never buy a console again.
