Quake Pro League happening now at Lucca Comics and Games
I don't know if people here are into twitch shooters, but one of the biggest Quake Champions tournaments of this year is happening now in Italy at Lucca Comics and Games.
If you ever were into competitive Quake, this tournament has names that you might have heard before in the previous iterations: Rapha, Cooller, Toxjq but also new young players.
These guys are incredible at the game. Being a quake player I really wish Quake would have taken off and been as big as Fortnite and the like.
Despite the low numbers of players I am glad that id/Bethesda are still investing in the game with periodical updates and improvements.
Personally I'm not a fan of the champions mechanic, but I guess it makes sense for today's shooter demographic that's more used to Team Fortress and Overwatch than to previous Quakes.
Also I am a bit puzzled how bad the game does on twitch, barely anyone is watching Quake, even though I feel like it doesn't require a lot of complicated knowledge to get into (like mobas), and that there can be some pretty spectacular plays sometimes.
Just a reminder that the games are still up today. We're up to round of 12 and probably will be some 12 more hours of games. :)
