This is almost as much of a half assed non-apology as their response to the backlash towards their unfair ban of Blitzchung months ago.

They refused to address the removal of RoC rulesets and automated tournaments, especially since the former affects the single player campaign quite adversely. Also, it's a dumbfuck decision to remove automated tournaments when they were one of the most requested features of Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void. The reason they had such low user engagement was because barely anybody played Warcraft III anymore prior to the Reforged version's release.

Related to that, as we talked about last year at BlizzCon, we did not want the in-game cutscenes to steer too far from the original game. We went a little deeper into the thought process behind that at the show, but the main takeaway is that the campaigns tell one of the classic stories in Warcraft history, and we want to preserve the true spirit of Warcraft III and allow players to relive these unforgettable moments as they were (albeit rebuilt with new animations and the higher fidelity art).

Yet promotional footage and teasers at previous Blizzcons promised overhauled and heavily upgraded cutscenes. What we got instead was in some cases a downgrade. An example is when Arthas kills Mal'ganis with Frostmourne at the end of the Human campaign. In the original Mal'ganis scatters into bats. In Reforged he floats upwards due to the remaster's hilariously bad death animation for dreadlords.

The FMV cinematics don't seem to be upgraded or redone at all. A 4K remake of the cutscene where Arthas storms into Lordaeron and slays his father would have been awesome. Instead, it seems like they lazily slapped on the same FMV from the original 2002 release.

They also didn't address the lack of ranked ladder (this is practically suicide for a competitive RTS of WC3's caliber, I mean for fuck's sake Microsoft put far more effort into AOE2DE), the performance issues which made a lot of people switch to classic graphics, the lack of graphical fidelity in the remastered graphics that made WC3 Reforged seem like a half-assed rush job, the draconian copyright changes made to the custom map EULA out of regret that Valve took Dota away from them, and the fact that the Reforged downgrades are forced upon everybody regardless of whether they actually bought into it or not.

I really hope that heads roll at Blizzard for this shit. If J Allen Brack isn't purged by a shareholders revolt, I'll be shocked.

I'm disappointed it didn't address my biggest concern: I shouldn't be forced to download an extra 30GB I do not have the ability to use. I can understand some to accommodate the new systems, but...

I can understand some to accommodate the new systems, but there's no way I should have to also download assets I do not have the license nor the desire to use.

Such a tragic way to kill the community around Warcraft 3.

Instead of the "we cannot support" shtick and declare ownership of any and all community content they could have released the server-side for the community to host and continue the online side.

I guess execs are simply to greedy to give anything to the community.

In other developments, they removed all restrictions on refunds so that people should be able to refund it even if they've played "too much" already: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/191929
