Unreal is also making big splashes in the film industry, of which Sony is also a big member. Nearly all the "on location" shooting done for The Mandalorian was actually done in a small studio encircled in a large LED screen wall showing CGI backdrops rendered in real time on Unreal. It has to be real time because they track the position and orientation of the camera to adjust the perspective of the rendered scene. It also provides accurate lighting for the props and actors being filmed, drastically cutting down on the post production work.
Makes sense. The Unreal engine demo was definitely a big "wow" factor for the PS5, showing people something that last Gen really couldn't do.
