OK, I can't help it. This is the best, most comprehensive analysis of the themes of The Witness I've ever come across on YouTube (as well as the most accurate, IMO). The funny thing is I've never really heard anyone who didn't like the game, or felt like it went above their head, or thought it pretentious, give their opinion on this. I always wonder how much they'd engage with the concepts as laid bare here when they usually didn't care to in the game itself.
A useful companion piece that offers another interpretation of the game's title, as well as revealing even more depth from the standpoint of mechanics and design, is the suitably named The 5 Levels of Depth in The Witness.
