So far my home-made sourdough starter (subsequently named Esteban) has yielded two nights of fabulous margherita pizzas, cast iron cooked on the underside for 5 minutes, then in the oven at MAX for another 5 minutes. It's really incredible how less important toppings on a pizza become when the focus shifts to the pizza base itself, all I've been adding is a homemade marinara sauce, some mozzarella, and basil to finish (and of course salt!).

Today I'm backing up my sourdough to Amazon S3 (Sourdough Storage Service), a.k.a. dehydrating half of it for a week on a sheet-lined baking tray, which will go into storage in a jar if I ever forget to feed my starter or become unable to.

Tomorrow I'm beginning the process of cooking sourdough brioche hot cross buns following this recipe, which also lets me experiment with a new container of Heilala vanilla paste which arrived just a few days ago.

Additionally, my Fellow Stagg EKG coffee kettle arrived—having precision control over temperature for optimum blooming and brewing is going to be a game changer to my coffee habits, and subsequently, my dev habits.

I'm doing my best to take my kitchen, food, and beverage skills from like a B/B- to like an A-, hopefully one day maybe an A, as this post demonstrates :P.

This comment made me chortle a few times throughout (S3 lol). I haven't heard of people naming their sourdough starter before, but people naming their kombucha SCOBY seems to be surprisingly...

This comment made me chortle a few times throughout (S3 lol). I haven't heard of people naming their sourdough starter before, but people naming their kombucha SCOBY seems to be surprisingly common from what I have seen. I love it; Anthropomorphized bacterial/fungal goo! :P

Tesla Is Calling Some California Plant Workers Back Next Week:

Supervisors told some staff in the paint and stamping operations of the factory in Fremont, California, to report to the facility on April 29. In messages seen by Bloomberg News, plant leaders ask workers to reply and say whether they plan to show up.

Tesla had previously communicated to workers that it expected to resume normal production at its U.S. facilities on May 4, the day after Bay area health measures are slated to end. The electric-car maker clashed with Fremont officials last month over whether its factory was an essential business or otherwise needed to shut down to comply with an Alameda County order issued in mid-March.
