Isn't that just re-inventing meta-cognitive theraphy? Of course, MCT isn't about suppressing as such, but more about being conscious about whether a though popping up in your head is something you want to ponder right now. (meta-cognitive = thinking about thinking) So if I sudden think "gosh, I'm like real old", I know that this is true and worth consideration, at times. But I also know that I have thought about this quite enough already, and often it just bring me down, so I may choose to save that topic for another time and move on to something else.
