Fitness Weekly Discussion
What have you been doing lately for your own fitness? Try out any new programs or exercises? Have any questions for others about your training? Want to vent about poor behavior in the gym? Started a new diet or have a new recipe you want to share? Anything else health and wellness related?
I bought an ebike and rode it around yesterday for 20-30 miles. The thing is zippy! I’ve named her Tangy. I ordered a passenger seat and running boards today, and I’m excited to see how it works as a two-person vehicle. I was running on pedal assist level 1-2 most of the time, which meant I was still getting a decent workout in.
This purchase was definitely influenced by an article posted on Tildes! https://tildes.net/~hobbies/10qf/eleven_rules_for_buying_an_ebike
I've been looking for an ebike recently too, but finding one where you can actually treat it as a proper bike (using just leg power), but that also has good storage solutions on them, has been really difficult. Way too many of them sold up here in Canada seem to be ordinary electric motorbikes/scooters, but with ineffective pedals added to the design in order to meet the legal requirements of an ebike. So thanks for sharing yours, since that's a really nice looking one, and is almost exactly what I have been looking for too.
p.s. Sweet! Rad Power Bikes are also available in Canada, and they have a whole bunch of other nice models, and plenty of storage accessories too. Thanks again for sharing.
As a warning, I’m already having to get a tire replaced. This tire is made just for this bike, and Rad is the only ones who sell them (so far), and they have known quality issues. The sidewall is cracked, and I don’t plan to ride it too far until I get the replacement and am able to install it. Lots of folks suggest swapping the tires out for similar motorcycle tires, which I will probably do if I have the same quality issue again.
Ah, bummer. That definitely lowers the appeal level. But AFAICT, from searching around, that issue only seems to be a problem with the Radwagon tires, and I find myself mostly interested in their slightly more traditional looking "Commuter" bikes anyways. So hopefully there isn't a similar issue with those too.
Yep, only the RadWagon has that issue, since it’s a proprietary tire. All the others should be good!
I am very keen on losing fat and have not made progress on it in the last few months, even though I wanted to. I started doing exercise and fitness stuff regularly. This is great and I'm proud of myself but my weight has stayed the same. Now I'm trying to refocus by taking the gym more seriously, logging my lifts. And also counting calories for a while. Trying to set myself up for success and make some significant progress instead of just spinning my wheels.
