Fitness Weekly Discussion
What have you been doing lately for your own fitness? Try out any new programs or exercises? Have any questions for others about your training? Want to vent about poor behavior in the gym? Started a new diet or have a new recipe you want to share? Anything else health and wellness related?
Roller skating once a week is going well. My knees no longer hurt afterwards, no intervention required.
This past week there were two really huge birthday parties and so it was very crowded, which really ruined the experience for me.
The key, I found, is to go fast enough that everyone else cant cross in front of you. Going fast allows you to treat everyone as a stationary object so you can just path around them. You can also change direction more quickly the faster you’re moving. If you cant go fast enough, you end up at the whim of all of the bad skaters who can change direction and fall in front of you faster than you can avoid them.
I can get up to that speed, but I don’t have the stamina to maintain it for more than a few laps so I was having to stop and rest very often. I don’t think going this fast actually got me a better workout, I just got more sweaty and tired than I normally do.
My spouse cant get up to that speed at all, they almost bulldozed over a small child and fell, hurting themselves.
All in all not a great experience, we’ll just not go if the parking lot is that crowded again.
