Proud to say that I went from one terrible muscle up at the beginning of the year to doing 4 consecutive today, and with somehow decent form.

Best part is that it's a side effect of the rest of the training I've doing, I was not actively practicing muscle ups, which gives me a lot of confidence, I should focus on it in the next 3 months

I forgot this was a recurring thread and maybe I should chime in! I think I've mentioned in passing in other threads that I've been hitting the gym, but it's been about 6 months since I started going and I'm feeling fantastic. This is the first week in a year where I'm not injured in some fashion and where I'm happy with the progress I'm making with my body! I am still fat, I still have a lot of body fat to lose, but I'm seeing noticeable changes in the mirror now and I've been building a fuckton of muscle on top of that.

My routine has generally been legs and core on Mondays, upper body on Wednesdays, and something like basketball or other heavy cardio on Fridays. I then also try to play at least 2 rounds of disc golf a week (Tuesday and Saturday usually) and I'm taking a 20 minute walk at work every day. I am not on any official diet or nutrition plan (I should be), but I've noticed my food intake has drastically reduced this year as well, I'm feeling more full with less and the scale is showing it, too. Despite all the muscle I'm building, I'm still down about 15 pounds on the scale since November. However, at this point, it's less about a number and more about how I feel, how strong I am, and how I look (I don't need a supermodel body, but I do want to take up less space), and all three of those are coming together!

It feels great to have actual muscles now and I've started to get looks at the gym, which is unusual for me. Even when I was at my lightest (80lbs lighter than I am now), I never really got looks or anything, but I was also far less confident back then.

All in all, working out is just part of my life now, it never feels like a drag, and usually on my gym days I'm looking forward to it all day, which is a good thing! I think the next step for me is to meet with a trainer to come up with a more concrete plan for both diet and exercise over me just reading stuff online and kind of guessing what I want to do. I think my gym offers a free session, even, I just hadn't signed up because I've been recovering a broken foot for 6 months and I was out of action for a few weeks after surgery last month, but I feel like I should get that set up soon.
