    In comparison to Arthur Brooks' lament on aging, Julia Hawkins probably doesn't spend many brain cycles on "I'm not as good as the younger folk", or "I'm not as good as I used to be".

    I've been acquainted with a few age 80+ athletes, including my mother. Physical activity isn't a guarantee of longevity, but it does seem to be strongly correlated with "good aging" - intact cognitive function, mobility, and moderation of pain and illness.

    The centenarian engineer's motto was: "Don't let the rocking chair get you."
