You get what you pay for with PF for sure, they don't have squat racks or benches for bench pressing. Only dumbbells, cable machines, and smith machines. They do have a lot of cardio stuff, but were lacking in what I was looking for.

ATF was smaller, but did have two deadlifting platforms, several squat racks, and a "General Purpose room" which had a bike, heavy bag, and some other things. Still, for what you're paying vs what you're getting, I don't think it was worth it.

YMCA on the other hand seems like the most bang for your buck. Huge weight room (Benches, racks, deadlifts platforms and more), indoor and outdoor pools, heavy bag, treadmills, bikes, steam sauna, and a freaking pottery studio 👀

Safe to say, I'm going with the Y.

Whoa! Been thinking about joining a gym in order to actually use some weights. I've been doing body-weight + 35lb kettle-bell for the last year-and-a-half and that's been working quite well for me. But... I've hit a bit of a wall with regards to progressively overloading the movements to the point where all I can really do is add more volume, which has been hell on my joints (particularly, my elbow). So... getting back into the weightlifting where I can add more weight rather than more volume to the movements to hopefully give my joints some rest.

All that to say: hell, if I can learn some pottery while I'm at it, why not! Gonna see what my local YMCA has to offer, for sure. Oh, and $55 is waayy cheaper than most of the damn gyms around my parts.

    Weight update

Catching this post before my Wednesday weigh in because it hasn't been losses the last couple of weeks and I expect that trend to continue. But, I'm otherwise not concerned as I'm going to the gym and I don't feel absolutely wrecked and exhausted going three days a week, so that's good. I weighed in last week at 252.2 lbs (~114.63 kg), and I expect likely another half pound to a pound as I've had a food and drink filled week. But we'll see. If it's a positive scale movement, I'll update with a reply lol

    Diet

Really have fallen off the horse these last few weeks and gained back because of it. Hopefully I can collect myself and put a plan in place again.

The following week after my Thanksgiving vacation, I began hitting the gym again. Starting on October 25th, I'm 4 for 4 haha. 25th, 27th, 29th, and November 1st doing a full workout routine, and other than my calves getting some rough DOMS from the 29th, they're doing great. My gout has been angry but likely due to drinkytimes at my friend's band's show on Saturday night.

I will do better! I have to.

A bit late but I weighed in at 252 lbs, so I somehow lost weight lol I'm not as hopeful for this coming weigh in but I've been proved wrong. Yay gym!

I finally picked up Beat Saber again. Bronchitis has left me mostly unable to skate (I did a full session on Wednesday and ended it pretty breathless), so I've been finding solace in my second favourite workout.

I'm pretty rusty. I started with the new Halloween-themed "Spooky Beat" song which I eventually beat, although I had to disable Ghost Arrows (I'm always on E+ 120%). Very fun. 666 mines in the map because why not.

I then moved on to Billie Eilish. I wasn't sure about her, I figured her songs wouldn't make for a good map, happy to say I was wrong. The Oxytocin map is awesome. I recorded my full training session with it. It took me nearly half an hour to beat! Had to use Practice mode for the middle bit. Here it is (successful attempt @ 27:11):

Today, I picked up "Kayzo - This Time" which I had never touched before. This was easier, I did it with Ghost Arrows in just about 10 minutes. Here's the full session:

I briefly touched some Skrillex stuff a few days ago but nothing too concrete yet, I'll be giving that DLC a run for its money soon.

Boy I just want a better headset than the Quest 2 though. I sweat SO MUCH in that and I can really feel the latency in some songs…
