Any HEMA practitioners?

Started way back in 2013, but due to injuries at work I took a break until beginning on this year. Finally found a friend to start back up at it with a local school in Vancouver. Love it.

I've done some Rapier and Smallsword, but focusing on Longsword right now. Entering my first tournament this Friday. Excited to get my butt kicked.

Anyone else practicing HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts)?

Our school is more focus on Fiore's teachings and Italian fencing, but from time to time we get other more experienced practitioners from other school to teach German, British, etc. Fighting styles.

Yep! I've been doing is since 2012 I think (?) Though my group scattered after covid so no real practice. I've been working through some books with a reading group though.

Hey! I practice (or did when my body was healthier) at MKDF in Maryland. I mostly study Liechtenauer with some smallsword on the side (plus whatever special stuff my club is doing ad hoc) I see...

I see that you're in Vancouver. Do you fence at Valkyrie with Kaja?

Hey! No, I'm at Academie Duello with Devon! I've not had the pleasure to check out Valkyrie, as they are not as close for me to get to.

I'm not a practitioner but I've read up on Fiore a bit. What other practitioners of the past are noteworthy? I'd like to learn more in that regard.

Capo Ferro is a master of the Rapier and its forms.

For English (England) sword fighting, we have a guest coming to teach the writing of George Silver. He talks on English Back sword, sword and shield, and quarterstaff. I've not read any of these though.

      Hope this helps!
