Parts of Playhouse (the kids house, not the stage play) hold up on its own, as I currently separate it from Big Adventure. Certain little things about the kids' show are a no go these days, but at the same time, the show didn't set out to be offensive and did not intend to offend in any way (unlike Ren and Stimpy, for example). It was also progressive for having black characters and giving those black characters important roles. The king of cartoons was the king of cartoons... what explanation more did that require? And Cowboy Curtis went on to star in the Matrix.

I like to think as Pee Wee as the rough draft for Sponge Bob for being a reflection and succession of what Pee Wee set out to be, that is, a child-like "adult" character with a tie and a smile that approaches life and work with almost equal amounts of fun and energy (sometimes at his own personal cost) who often gets up to hijinks, and who is largely accepted in their world, as if they are normal.

But playhouse was a show for kids in the 80's whose main character was played by a man who became increasingly fatigued by his own commitment to depicting Pee Wee as often as possible.

The kid's show is about screaming and puppets with sweet footnotes of finding empathetic solutions to problems. So playhouse is playhouse and your mileage will vary.

Big Adventure is where nostalgia is not necessary, but it helps. To my recollection, Pee Wee never had a bike like that until the movie, so the importance of it made no sense to me as a kid, but makes perfect sense as a mcguffin if you're out of the loop and watching it as an adult. His house was much more magical in the kids show, too. I remember seeing the movie as a kid and wondering, "well where's Conky and Terry, and the talking chair, Captain Carl, etc? Those are important dudes and that's not his house". But it's still Pee Wee and it's an excellent movie and wonderful adventure that's as appropriate for kids as it is for adults, even if his kids show elements are 99% ignored.

So you can totally skip the kids show is what I'm saying.

I hope it stands the test of time so much that people in the future will look at it like a lightning-in-a-bottle type of movie, as we do now with Willy Wonka, Ghostbusters, etc.

Waimea Valley is an enjoyable hike to a lovely little waterfall. Actually it's more of a happy walk through a botanical garden than a hike, but I count it. Take swimming trunks.

Jumping off Waimea Rock into the ocean is a thing to do. About a 20-25 foot jump iirc, depending on the water level. Watch out for big waves.

The long anticipated sequel to the nuclear fire track from Gunship's first album, Tech Noir 2 bookends the journey with an optimistic, anti-war message. It begins with a poem read by John Carpenter that, nearly as soon as it greets you with the familiar, haunting synth intro of Tech Noir, quickly welcomes the pervasive saxophone character of the album, played romantically by Tim Cappello of Lost Boys fame to set the tone for the rest of the song.

A hundred percent. If you were a kid in the US in the 90's, you'd have seen that there were so many commercials for breakfast cereals. Cocoa Puffs, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruity Pebbles, Cocoa Pebbles, Corn Pops, Lucky Charms, Golden Crisps, Fruit Loops, I mean the list just goes on, and each one had its own cute little mascot to draw you in. And if you were from a lower to middle class income family such as me, that was probably your breakfast. You'd still see some of that these days I'm sure, but I really do attribute the improving national health in part to our access to the internet and the larger absence of cereal internet ads.

    Well, maybe on reddit.

I implore you to stay on topic, which is one about dead kids and the guns that cause them to be dead, which you continue to, yes, misdirect our effort into.

That's a good topic. So the serving size helps people to visualize what amount of food is appropriate for their plate and how many calories are in that. I believe Michelle Obama made a push for expanding the usage of nutrition facts some years ago to address the american obesity crisis that would, at the minimum, show you how many calories you're consuming. It worked.

One problem therein is that cold cereal isn't filling enough for its calorie count. By the time you've had just a standard bowl's worth of cereal, you're approaching 500 calories or more. That's what they show in the commercials... the bowl-sized serving. They don't show parents carefully measuring your bowl of Cheerios by the cup (that's 8 fluid ounces of dry little rings of sweet fiber)... they showed a boy and a girl eating marshmallows by the fistful while a leprechaun danced on their table.

Maybe that amount of calories (if it's a nutritious meal) is fine for kids because they burn more than adults, but most of the calories in cereal is attributed to the sugar. Kids don't usually ask for cornflakes... my family didn't. I didn't. We asked for Cocoa Puffs and Fruity Pebbles, etc. Those are empty calories. So we were raised on garbage and now we're paying the price, be it in health or guilt.

Perhaps the death of the sugary cold cereal industry is the natural course of things for an educated demographic.

100 grams sounds very reasonable. If only we'd have a standard like that.

    Why do you doubt it?

It's the same as when someone calls themselves Libertarian because they're afraid to admit they're Republican with a few leftist values, but will vote for people like Abbott anyhow. It's completely valid for OP to want to own guns, I get that and I support some gun possession myself, but covering it up because you don't want to identify with the most leftist of modern day liberals is an unnecessary labor in words. We're living now, not in the past.

As for the rest of that, I'd respond but it's more rhetorical and I don't want to waste our time, and you answered it much yourself.

Now is not the time for discriptivism. Today we're talking about dead kids and guns. Let's stay focused.

    It's just sugar

I'm filling the bowl 3/4's of the way to the brim, and that's more than a listed serving. I gave up on counting the calories long ago. Most cereals make me feel like garbage anyhow, whereas a taco of papas con huevo with salsa verde gives me carbs and protein. Also, I don't get bloated because there's no milk.

Maybe if the nutrition facts standardized serving sizes befitting the average american bowl size (whatever that is) plus the amount of milk that goes in it, and if they make it filling, I'll know what I'm eating without devoting too much early morning brain power and guilt to it.

I'm relieved to know you're for some sort of federal licensure despite your avoiding my questions. Your criticism of Governor Grisham is misplaced, as her action has caused to bring, at the minimum, a discussion to our social climate about the state of gun control in our country. That is crucial at this time and it might save a few lives lost unnecessarily to gun violence within the next 30 days.

What better could Governor Grisham have done at this time to curtail gun violence in the city of Albequerque, do you think?

You know what? You got me there fam. That's a solid argument. Allow me to make a better argument: How many children need to die for you to support common sense gun regulations?

If your argument is "an 11yo child died because of misuse of 'x,' therefore 'x' should be outlawed" be prepared to outlaw every fucking thing anywhere.
