Ep 5 Spoilers
I finally had a chance to watch the episode. IMO Ben should have dumped half the oil out of the bottle, cracked an egg into it, then shaken it like crazy. I think he would have had legit mayo if he had done that. But he managed to do it anyways... sorta? We never really got to see the results, which was a bit disappointing. I guess we will just have to take his word for it.
But what followed was amazing. What a remarkable series of unfortunate events... or fortunate events, depending on who you're rooting for. :P
p.s. @Hvv your description of the events was spot on... and made me snort in amusement. Well done. ;)

Episode 5 Spoilers
I'm in awe at the closeness of the circumstances at the end there.
Ben gets unlucky with a curse challenge and has to double back and erase his lead on the chasers, except
He has a shot at deceiving the chasers by stopping off at Howald and using a plausible route back to Luxembourg as a cover to hide and get on a train to Metz, except
The chasers also stop at Howald to try to prevent him from continuing on that plausible route, except
They miss him getting off the train and are stuck on the route back to Luxembourg, meaning that Ben's plan ended up working!
My analytic brain says his lead is probably still smaller if Luxembourg/Metz is a reasonably big transit hub, but all he has to do is run out the clock and it's getting pretty close.
Spoilers I couldn't believe they didn't get Ben in the end. I was waiting for them to get of the train and run straight into him. Can't wait for the next episode this one was great.

Damn, kudos to Ben. I thought that even with their generous definition of a burpee he still messed up big time by picking that option, since doing 50 of them is pretty damn difficult, especially for someone that's never done them before (and isn't in the best physical shape). But he actually managed to do them all, and so now he has a well deserved 2 hr lead. I bet he's gonna feel that in the morning though. :P

Excellent episode and excellent season. I enjoyed this format, as I did last time, and I have no doubt we'll see it again (though it might be interesting to move the circle a bit and try not to have to use Deutsche Bahn trains). This was clearly a better game than Japan. Obviously I was cheering for the winner, who wouldn't!
It would also be interesting to see the New Zealand format used again in other parts of the world; I have the feeling it could be adapted for parts of Europe.

I found it interesting that, despite there being coin prices for a variety of forms of travel, they weren't really used. Paying for a bike or scooter could have been transformative in situations where someone was trying to escape or complete missions, and at 1 coin per minute would have been accessible in pretty much any situation. By comparison, plane travel was priced so highly that it was just out of reach. I get why they don't want planes, since there's no opportunity for diversion or capture, but it seems weird to have it and just price it out of reach.

Yeah, it's pretty remarkable how close he got. I do think he misplayed a bit at the end before he got caught though. IMO he shouldn't have kept gunning for the points, and instead just gone to as populated a place as he could in the time he had so it would be harder to spot him in that disguise. Since walking around in near empty streets made the disguise totally useless. But TBH, I am actually glad he got caught so at least the game keeps going. It would have been pretty weird to end it so soon.
Ooo, it's back! Nice!
Remember manhunt?

What an incredible run by Adam (with the Deutsche Bahn assist of course). That mole rat curse card is absolutely diabolical though.
