      Episode 1 spoilers

Ok, this is such a good episode. Perfect for a mini series. Fairly early on in the episode I said to my watching buddy "I love everything that Amy says", because she just has the right sort of personality to reinforce Adam's antics. Usually the Adam and Ben duo has Ben playing the straight man (though sometimes it's the other way around which is great), but here the two of them just continually play off each other. I wouldn't mind seeing more Amy in the show in general, I think she'd make a good player.

The hiding zone is a good one with a lot of variety, though as Adam realised towards the end there wasn't really any good hiding spaces that couldn't be narrowed down to by the tallest structure question. I do think they might've been able to get a couple more minutes by hiding on a different side of one of those buildings, one not immediately visible when coming from the station.

Doubling the curse of the travel agent was huge, especially when sending the seekers over the river. That probably bought a lot of time. There was some discussion on the podcast about gentrification and the hip hop museum (sponsored by Microsoft, a company well known for its hip hop roots), which eventually settled on the (more) affordable housing being gentrification done right even if the inclusion of the museum was a bit clunky.

If it felt like the first game day was short, that's because it was. On the day of filming, the physical edition of the game hadn't arrived in the Nebula office yet, so everyone was on hold waiting for a call. It ended up being delivered that morning, but it wasn't until about 12:30 that filming actually started. Then the day ended early because Sam had a flight to catch.

If Sam having a flight to catch sounds weird in the middle of a game filming, that's because it is. "Day 2" of this game was actually filmed 4 months later than game 1. I think the edit was pretty good and while my brain thought something was off (Amy and Adam didn't quite look the same?), I couldn't tell what while watching. One final details related to that, that means that Ben had to keep an egg the third teammate in his fridge for 4 months, and it might have smelled a bit by the time they resumed filming.

I'm excited to see where episode 2 goes with Sam and Ben hiding around Wall St.

Oh wow what a game this was. Both last round and this. This episode has probably the best usage of cards, combined with some really good luck for which cards were drawn.

From that first photo with the cobbles in the background, both Amy and Adam were pretty certain that Sam and Ben were in the Financial District, in part because they used to work on Broad St (the one the hiders were on). But just going straight there would be a risky move, so they spent the rest of the time trying to prove that instinct correct.

As soon as Ben grabbed the snail I paused while my watching buddy and I spent the next few minutes agreeing that a snail is not a bug while trying to come up with reasons why it would be. Either way, the way this challenge (and other similar ones) works in practice is that Ben sent a photo of the snail for Adam and Amy to approve. They did, so everyone agreed for this challenge that it was valid.

The doubled right turn curse was amazing. It probably didn't win them the game (with those 57 minutes of time bonuses), but it certainly made it more annoying for Adam and Amy to get around. That really combo-ed well to cause maximum pain for the seekers. It would have been even worse if the gambler's feet curse went through.

This was a great mini season, and I hope they try things like this again in the future. What I especially hope for is more Amy, as her presence made this so much better.

Yeah, this was a great game. I genuinely thought the Ben & Sam were screwed given how quickly Amy & Adam figured out they were on Manhattan. But Ben & Sam's card draw luck and tactical choices were genuinely impressive.

I think it actually did. The amount of time Amy & Adam had to spend making 3 right turns around buildings wasn't insubstantial. And I suspect one of the major reasons the Curse of the Zoologist took Amy & Adam so damn long to clear was because they couldn't just walk straight to every nearby garden/planter or the nearest park to look for insects. Amy & Adam received the Zoologist curse at 2:09, and it took them until 3:02 to find the roach before being able to ask their next question. Speaking of which...

I'm also definitely of the opinion that a snail (gastropod/mollusk) is not a "bug" either... but they did actually account for it in the rule book by including them in their definition of "bug". And if mollusks were their own unique class of animal for the purposes of the card, it would probably make them way way way too powerful since then the other team would have to find a mollusk of their own to clear the curse.

And yeah, I really enjoyed this one too and hope they do it again in the future. Ditto about including Amy too. She was great!

Wow, they really opened up on the politics in the finale. Saying that having an economy is a good thing? Really planting a flag on one side of modern discourse.
