Plants

Anyone in here interesting in plants (growing, propagating, maintaining, etc). Figure we can get a forum started to exchange tips.

On a side note, some of the side categories seem overly broad. Hobbies for example is going to get pretty bonkers.

Are you thinking about house plants, outdoor plants, or both? I say with the upmost shame that I kill houseplants on the regular. I would love to to be able to, I don't know, not do that?...

Currently I have a Jade plant that I haven't been able to kill (four years now) and would like to find a bigger pot for, and some other thing I got at the grocery store (3 months ago) that I don't know what it is. My house has no sun sun except in the winter when one window gets a few hours.

Out door plants, I have a pretty solid grasp on but am always learning more about.

I'll look into the three plants you mentioned and report back when I find one!

        What sorts do you have?

If a certain hobby got big enough to justify it, it would be moved into its own place on the group hierarchy, meaning ~hobbies.gardening or something like that. ~hobbies may eventually be overloaded by posts from groups lower on the hierarchy rising up into this one, but that's okay (and very far off), you could then just participate in those groups lower down. Oh, and if this were happen soon it would be manually decided by Deimos, but eventually it will just be a part of how groups on Tildes grow. It's broad right now because getting more specific just means a spaced out lonely website with the level of activity we have. So for now it's pretty cozy :)

I suggest looking at this introduction (edit: that's old, look at the bottom of this comment) if you haven't, the docs might also be of use. Hopefully you can get a decent idea of how it'll work from those. (Welcome, by the way!)

EDIT: Ah fuck, I meant to link the "How To" Guide! It's the best place to go to understand where Tildes is at, this section on groups should be useful.

Yeah, that stuff's mostly just plans for how to handle it in the future anyway. As for how it is now...Tildes is big on the idea that before being a big site, you have to be a small site. And...

As for how it is now...Tildes is big on the idea that before being a big site, you have to be a small site. And thinking in those terms, look at this group. It's not terribly active, so there's no chance of it becoming a big mess and splitting it up out of fear for that isn't necessary.
