I grew up with Quakerism. Some interesting facts:

    1. There have been two Quaker presidents. One of which was Richard Nixon (surprisingly). This is definitely an over-representation given the size of the religion.
    2. Quakers are the origin of America's Jury Nullification (as we adopted the traditions of English law). William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania and a notable Quaker, was put on trial for preaching Quakerism but was let off by the jury.
    3. Before there was the FDA to regulate food standards, Quakers were often paid very well for their dairy and ran large dairy farms. One of the central values of Quakerism is integrity and customers trusted a Quaker would rather dump spoiled milk than pawn it off.
    4. Even though Quakers were very involved with the abolition of slavery in America, many were still racist enough to not want black Americans in their religious services - even after the emancipation proclamation.
