A video talking about the history of Greenland, starting from the medieval era. I found it particularly interesting because I had loosely heard of Greenland having the world's highest suicide rate but this video very neatly explains how it's basically a consequence of Danish colonialism, similar to the conditions found in Native Reservations in pretty much every new world country from Canada to the US to Brazil to Argentina.

It seems like polling shows a majority for independence, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

As an outsider, I would be concerned that Greenland will ultimately lose its economic and cultural independence as a separate country. Realistically, international capital interests are going to have an easier time infiltrating a Greenland that will be deeply cash strapped after losing funding from Denmark, which currently funds half their government budget. Honestly there seems to be enough interest in Denmark for just doing the right thing and establishing a good relationship with Greenland that to me much of the movement seems to be the international intelligentsia trying to drive a wedge between the two countries.
