    Living Room

It seems like the husband pushed his wife down the stairs and then spent the night anxiously smoking and reading newspapers in the chair before calling the doctor in the morning.

I'm curious what everyone here thinks about Three Room Dwelling. It seems like the wife must have done it but I'm not quite sure about the series of events.

I unfortunately couldn't find anything about theories on that one, but I did find a really good CSPAN video on the collection where the presenter discusses and shows off that particular diorama in great detail.

Even with being able to see all the additional details and every room from various angles, I still can't be certain exactly what happened... but I really don't think it was the wife that did the shooting, based on all her blood spattered on her nightstand and the wall near her head, in the direction she was facing. She would have had to shoot herself in the back of the head with the rifle (or shotgun?) somehow for that to happen, which seems highly unlikely.

So I personally think it's much more likely that the husband shot his wife while she slept, then shot the baby, then shot himself (possibly in the kitchen based on the pool of blood on the floor in there) but didn't die immediately. He then dropped the gun next to the baby chair in the kitchen, stumbled back into the bedroom while trailing blood, tried to lie back in bed but slid off it, and eventually bled out on the floor next to it.

Either that or an intruder manage to kill both parents while they slept, then the baby, and then left via a window (since all the doors were locked from the inside). That wouldn't explain the pool of blood in the kitchen, or the blood trail found only between the kitchen and the husband's location though.
