Personally, I don't see how "progressivism" and "occultism" could be anything but diametrically opposed ideas. Progressivism to me is about shedding emotional, reactionary policies and instead replacing them with ethical, evidence based ones. Most of this seems like kneejerk reactionism from the left. I mean "using folk magic to bind president trump"? Who does that actually help?
Just because something isn't traditional mainstream Christianity doesn't mean that it's correct, or that it wouldn't be harmful if it ever gained mainstream traction. This is the same kind of thinking that encourages distrust of western medicine and leads to people dying of treatable cancers and people not vaccinating their kids.
