When Nobel's brother died, a newspaper mistakenly published Alfred Nobel’s obituary instead. They had used the words Le marchand de la mort est mort (“The merchant of death is dead”) for him. After that it read “Dr. Alfred Nobel, who became rich by finding ways to kill more people faster than ever before, died yesterday.” Nobel thought is that what the world will remember me for? merchant of death? This lead him to try to improve his public image. Nobel prize being one of them.
