First, Duolingo now makes money from our courses. This was not the case when the Incubator was opened to volunteers. Contributors share that they participate for intrinsic reward and out of passion for the language and mission, but it does not feel fair and equitable to continue this gracious relationship.
I wonder if they have ever asked the Contributors themselves. I use Duolingo for Klingon, and this is what I saw in the Duolingo Klingon forum:
I can see how it would have been better to consult but if they want a much more standardised approach (which seems slightly like it could remove the unique flavour each community would develop)...
