DS9 was more implicitly gay, but overall probably the gayest of the Treks. You could say Dax is the definitive non-binary, or gender fluid, since their host can be of any gender really. Plus, the gay kiss we do get is between Jadzia Dax and one of her lovers from a previous host. It's shunned in Trill and symbiote society to have relations with people from a former host, so the queer allegory is pretty clear in that episode too. Not to forget Odo whose identity is a large part of the show, a shapeshifter who could be anything but chooses to be a man and go by he/him pronouns was a big part of Odo's development from when he was in a lab to when he was constable for Terok Nor. Then there's The Twink and the Bear... ahem, I mean O'Brien and Julien... I'm just saying that they've both admitted that they "like" each other more than they love their significant others (maybe not the highest bar to cross for O'Brien and Keiko), and I there's a very good reason why they never let anyone else into their holosuite simulations. I could go on really, I didn't even mention Garak, but DS9 consistently had nods to LGBTQ+ themes.
Unfortunately we can't count some of those. The Julien/Miles thing was more of a way to separate Julien and Garak, who was obviously a much better relationship (at least on screen in a dramatic...
Unfortunately we can't count some of those. The Julien/Miles thing was more of a way to separate Julien and Garak, who was obviously a much better relationship (at least on screen in a dramatic sense). Then they ham fisted a romantic relationship between Garak and Ziyal, which was much more inappropriate but that's what Berman wanted. The writers still found ways to write in some elements that went against that at least. I still have a head canon story line that Garak was exiled due to a gay relationship that was discovered by Tain, which was the head of a massive organization in a society that repressed anything that didn't result in procreation and creating a large family. That's why he was chasing after Julien and then tried to feign a relationship with Ziyal after the reunion with his father.
Thanks, will give it a watch. I haven't watch STAR TREK before, for whatever reason, so I'm quite curious. Reminds me of the OUTER LIMIT episode THE MUSIC OF THE SPHERES where the youth is being...

Reminds me of the OUTER LIMIT episode THE MUSIC OF THE SPHERES where the youth is being seduced by space alien music giving them glimmering skin, causing the authorities to declare a national state of emergency.
You may want to see episodes from The Orville, specifically:
S1E3 About A Girl
S3E5 A Tale of Two Topas
That's an interesting interpretation of that episode! I can see the parallels between John's situation and transgender people's situation.

Ah yes, Dax kissed a lover from a previous host I think. If I remember correctly I think I liked how it was so irrelevant that Jadzia was a woman.
