Shaun makes an exhaustive video connecting transphobic bigot Kellie-Jay to far-right fascist groups and people by way of their shared narratives and propaganda techniques, how these different bigoted movements ally or orbit one another, and how old school conspiratorial antisemitism pops up as a through line. JK Rowling shows up a bit too in the story, and not in any positive manner. This makes a good companion video to ContraPoints recent video. which I also recommend. These are long videos however, be warned.

One minor thing that surprised me was when he was discussing Helen Joyce's transphobic and conspiratorial book "TRANS" was the little blurb by Richard Dawkins calling the book: "Frighteningly necessary, thoroughly researched, passionate and very brave." Shaun doesn't bring this up, but I was completely unaware Dawkins was in support of this drivel which I find incredibly disappointing.

Anyway, I find sharing these kinds of videos important because, at least in the US (though I know the UK too), this form of bigotry has had recent mainstream and political success and I want to expose the dark outcomes these people want even if they don't always say it out loud as well as point out who their friends are. The bit where Shaun discusses 1929 Nazi newspaper propaganda articles is scarily the exact kind of hate all too easily found today with just a different "target" in mind with zero difference in narrative or argument tactics.

I haven't kept in touch with angsty atheist YouTube channels for over 10 years or so and was also surprised when Adam Something described how those changed into alt-right piplines over time.

That Adam Something video was good. I somehow missed it among his many videos about trains! Dawkins was always abrasive and hard to love, and I could never quite gel with the militant anti-theism...

Dawkins was always abrasive and hard to love, and I could never quite gel with the militant anti-theism he espoused, but I really like his books The Selfish Gene (and the sequel The Extended Phenotype) as very insightful about biology. I haven't followed anything he's done in years however and don't really know what trajectory he's taken -- and to be honest, I'm not particularly thrilled in finding out.
