We forced infrastructure owners to set up wholesale distribution channels (LLU and WLR are a acronyms I didn't think I'd ever use again) which allowed others to piggyback as equals. I don't think banning competitor from your infrastructure for publically criticizing your policies would fly back then or should fly today.

They're definitely not left on the economic axis. In terms of civil rights, Civic Coalition is declaratively pro equal rights for women and lgbt people. Ultimately they have so many conservative members that new government will consists almost entirely of men. Promised abortion rights were swept away immediately after elections, the way it goes now we might change one of the harshest laws in the world to the harshest in Europe. Even civil unions that all upcoming coalition members are for (Trzecia Droga, KO, Lewica) were not put in their formal coalition agreement because minor coalition member protested and it was apparently not important enough to fight for. They've been behaving the same during their 8 year rule that ended 8 years ago.
In my book their actions put them firmly in the right, centre-right if we're generous.

The church has been ignoring Vatican and won't openly defy it but they've been in a convenient positions where supposedly catholic politicians could openly criticize the pope.
I can imagine there are enough catholic communities worldwide to band together so that it doesn't look entirely silly. Having multiple popes is a long standing tradition, no reason we can't have it now.

I also recall that it was still Python 2 and some internal materials cited that it could possibly be the biggest Python app in existence.
Internal banking apps can get whacky sometimes. In another bank I worked with an app for FX and rates valuation that had internal logic so bizzare it took months for people to understand and some probably never did.

No amount of forward thinking will replace it, unless you're Citibank in the early 90s, about to sell what later became Refinitiv.
If you found a data source that matches Bloomberg (you won't because institutions submit data to BB directly), there are years of development to catch up with on silly things like thousands of different regional bond type accrual calculations. And then you'd have to reproduce all bugs because everyone is expecting BB to be correct and it costs less to assume it's right rather than argue with a counter party.
You'll find stories like this in different industries. They're all married to Excel for this and plenty different reasons.

For example, back in the day at a corporate job I maintained some Excel based tools that pulled financial data from Bloomberg and
ReutersRefinitiv. I had some very convoluted flows where Python script pulled data from FTP, opened Excel specifically to refresh proprietary formulas, save results, then went on it's way to do next steps in a 3270 mainframe via Python again. It was ridiculous and if I could do it entirely from Excel environment it'd be much more pleasant experience. It'd be the best if IT was developing any end user requested features so that wouldn't have to be done in the first place but you work with what you're dealt with.
IIRC Bloomberg has an API now but it's still lacking very specific features found in Excel addon.

There was plenty of antisemitism and while not industrial scale murder kind, the sort of people behind it would do it if it benefited them. Ask a Russian today about why nazism was evil and you likely won't hear a peep about jews either.
All in all, I'd rather target all types of political extremism and believe actual socialists have plenty of symbols to rally around. Even the well meaning socialists do a disservice to the idea when they invoke memories of worst of the USSR so I think it works out for the better.

Raising interest rates means debt but it kicks can down the road. They did that at the beginning of the second invasion of Ukraine but have reverted once they had enough capital controls to stop the bleeding.
It appears they went with central bank intervention for now. This burns their reserves but at the current rate it's enough for another year IIRC.
[edit] They raised interest rates by a whopping 3.5%, now at 12%.

Then it proceeds to throw out all of the unnecessary lore through the window and goes back to basics (that's quite heavy handed too but unfortunately execution is pretty bad). Once it achieves story reset there's nothing else that needs to be added or removed because you don't need kryptonite if you do a superman origin story and just end it there.

Unfortunately I believe this could relegate Lemmy to obscurity.
The issue became painfully evident during Threads federation discussions. Some blog post on Google and XMPP history made rounds on Lemmy which seemed to be enough for everyone to form their opinion. I've seen Embrace Extend Extinguish term used for everything that's wrong with big tech, mostly in wrong context and definitely odd reasoning on how to fight it. There's plenty of EEE attempts like what's going in Chrome right now but what is essentially accepting emails from Meta ain't it.
It's weird because I'd estimate that regular Mastodon user is way more tech, privacy and open source oriented but they also seem way more pragmatic in their approach. There are Mastodon instances that preemptively defederated Threads but there are plenty that didn't. With Lemmy I don't know of a single instance that stated outright that they have no problem federating with commercial instances.

I hated Matrix 2&3 and was very satisfied that Matrix 4 essentially did a reset of the storyline back to how Matrix 1 ended, just with Trinity as the other superhero about to do something with Matrix. Do you remember the thrill of Neo going superman from that phone booth at the end of Matrix? The sheer badassery and open possibilities were beyond anything that could be matched by sequels even by the most competent screenwriters and directors. Matrix 4 is admission of that.
From this point of view last installment is a comfort watch. Open ending is how the franchise should have concluded (or rather it shouldn't have become a franchise).

It was extremely ambitious for the time and released in a terrible shape but couple of patches later it's a very enjoyable experience, even on previous gen consoles.
FT had some interesting data on net housing wealth differences between Millenials and Boomers. Top 10% Millenials are slightly lagging Boomers at same age but their median was essentially flat at 0 through the entire graph. Wealth might be increasing but it's the very few that drive those averages.
