I'm really glad to see this. The number of times I've had to explain how being trans is not a mental illness only to have the WHO thrown back as a defence was frustrating. Happy to see they've finally updated this, especially in today's climate of alt-right pundits who look for easy bait to explain away reality and entrench their base. Last time someone tried to play a Ben Shapiro video as their argument and it took me half a fucking hour to go categorically, step by step through his bullshit.
Half an hour breaking down a Ben Shapiro video? That might qualify as self harm.
It was considered a mental health disorder? Sounds like China or Russia would but definitely not WHO
This is all in regards to the WHO managed "International Classification of Disease", ICD. The ICD is used in most medical fields for things like billing and diagnosis. In the tenth version of ICD, ICD-10, which has been in place since 1990, transgender conditions were classified under the sub-classification of "Mental and Behavioral Disorders". The change of this classification comes with the release of the new ICD-11 classifications, which were released on June 18, 2018

That's huge. Hopefully this should change some minds. The more research we can get into this stuff the better. :)
