    Salt Lake City is so dedicated to making sure people know it’s LGBTQ-friendly that it has an explainer on its tourism website that begins, “Yes, Salt Lake IS a great place for the LGBTQ Community.”

    Salt Lake City is literally the largest city in Utah, so it's not like it's some rural town.

    It's also the headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which owns most of the city. This is the same famously anti-gay church which helped back Proposition 8 in California against gay marriage.
