    I was looking around for Halloween costuming ideas with a Roaring '20's theme, and got dug in on Weimar Germany, because that was the era of brilliant, elegant drag kings. [Not that I'm in shape to pull this off properly anymore.]

    There's still not enough history on LGBTQ+ subcultures, especially the Berlin communities before fascism. I'd read Voluptuous Panic: The Erotic World of Weimar Berlin, but want better history about the lives of LGBTQ+ people in that time, outside the conspicuously louche nightlife.

    This story and the glorious accompanying photos just stuck with me, and I hope you'll find it worthwhile as well.
