Many Conservative MPs are deeply unhappy with their government for pledging to "end conversion therapy", because they want a legal ban on conversion therapy.

To clarify for other people reading, I believe the issue here is that the Minister did not specifically mention a ban in their statements, only using the phrasing 'end', which people are interpreting as (perhaps deliberately) ambiguous.
Another issue with the Minister's statement was the lack of explicit mention of gender identity wrt this legislation, despite explicit mention of sexual orientation.
I do think it is possible to read in to this too much though, it could just be that the Minister was somewhat uncareful with their choice of words. I think the greatest issue is the delay in getting this legislation in front of the house: where's the bill? When we have a bill we can critique the actual text of it rather than reading in to the statements of the Minister and assuming their intentions. It's been nearly 3 years since we were promised a bill and this delay is what I find most troubling.
