This is our old girl Nan. We got her as a rescue about 11 years ago. It was pretty clear that she was previously abused because she would always bolt any time I made a sudden movement or loud sound. Over the years, she gradually transformed from nervous and skittish to calm and affectionate. She's starting to show her age now (about 14 years) in arthritis and back problems and we know we're going to have to say goodbye to her soon. 😓 We're doing everything we can to keep her comfortable and active.
Nan looks so sweet! One of my dogs was like that, too. She used to cower just from seeing me holding anything that could hit her, even a pair of chopsticks. Now she couldn't care less what I have in my hands, except treats of course.
