I would have preferred to see an actual news article about this, rather than some self-righteous ranty opinion piece which not only attacked the school teachers who made this poor decision, but then went on to criticise a poor school superintendent who was obviously not pleased with what happened in his school, and was clearly sincere in his desire that this not happen again. Come on. Let's at least save our self-righteous indignation for the people who deserve it, rather than the poor folks who have to clean up a mess not of their making.

Every Halloween there's the usual back and forth over insensitive costumes. People keep saying it's hard to keep up, but I feel like five minutes of reflection are enough to figure out if most costumes are appropriate or not.

      five minutes of reflection

I'm from Turkey, so IDK how well it compares, but if people reflected honestly and seriously for five minutes only once in the coming five years, the results of the elections would change 180 degrees.

Most people are stupid, and the rest are a bit less stupid and still a minority in them know how to pretend to be smart. And a way smaller minority is maybe actually sort of smart. Five minutes of reflection is basically too much for the vast majority of people.
