I LOVED this episode (excuse my bias, long time Reply All fan). I'm not American so I'm not familiar with the inner workings of the Democratic party, but it was absolutely fascinating to hear about this infighting and how it finally moved forward from its stalemate, for better or worse. To think something so interesting has been going on yet no one ever talked about it.

I bet even most Alabamians didn't know the party they were voting for was going through this turmoil.

To me this episode served as a good reminder that the status quo sucks, whether you're right or left leaning. Nothing good comes out of sticking to your guns from old times and stalling everything. Things change, the world is evolving, and parties need to keep up and stop clinging onto everything they once defended and block progress.

I don't know if the resolution to this case was good or bad in terms of what the party will do in the future, but I think it's good in the sense that at least things aren't stuck in place anymore, and I'm happy this was all brought to light by Reply All.

Also shout out to this comment on the r/gimlet subreddit from an Alabamian Democrat. I can't even begin to imagine how anyone left leaning there must feel when they hear this.

These episodes try and explore a really, really complicated situation going on in Alabama with their Democratic Party, where a post Doug Jones progressive insurgency is trying to upend what they see as an ineffectual moderate head. The issue is that it cuts across racial lines, in Alabama, and some serious coalition repair has to happen, lest there be two Democratic Parties in Alabama.
