The recent SCOTUS ruling about districting in Alabama is anticipated to bring additional changes to map drawing throughout the south. In Texas this likely is going to come down to several lawsuits that have been consolidated. Texas's huge growth over the past decade has largely been due to growth in Texans of color, but the maps drawn after the census don't reflect that in terms of political power. I haven't read the original SCOTUS ruling to know what extent intent played in Alabama, but hopefully the suit is able to successfully rebalance Texas Congressional districts to better represent the population as it has grown.

That said for any political organizers in Texas or elsewhere, the maps can only suppress so much. Statewide races like senator next year are unaffected by congressional maps, and over half of registered voters don't vote, helping to increase turn out could drastically change the effectiveness of the maps.
