This is an old video from Innuendo Studios that I thought was a particularly relevant to keep in mind right now, what with all the protests going on (and now getting cops called on) at universities. I feel it does a really good job at a quick analysis of state responses to protests, as well as some commentary on calls for "peaceful protests," who those calls most frequently end up hurting, and crucially, how most people calling for these things aren't the ones on the receiving end of the tear gas and batons.

For my part, I firmly believe that a protest should strive to be peaceful wherever possible, but it should be disruptive (lest it be ineffectual), and when police attack them, the protestors are entitled to respond in kind.
