    People of any color can believe the lies trump says, they "understand what he's trying to say". Which is exactly what trump does, spout bs that the listener can put their own perspective on it and believe it. The problem is that trump doesn't care about interpretation, just that he gets the ability to gut the US government and get as rich as possible doing it.

    tl;dr: some combination of:

    • Desire for change/something new. Biden, and to a lesser degree Democrats, feel like more of the same.
    • Socially conservative values of the Republicans resonate with minorities (or at least some portion of minorities to have significance in polls).
    • Democrats are dismissive / take for granted that others share their positions.
    • Some implication in comments from the author that people are misinformed.
