Pretty much all of LEMMiNO's documentary videos have had me thinking something very similar too. So if you liked this one and are looking for more of that, you should check out his other ones as well. He doesn't put them out too often (probably because of how long he takes to research them) so there isn't many, but IMO they are all incredibly well done, and on similarly surprisingly interesting/mysterious topics.
I didn't know I wanted to know about this until right now. That was a surprisingly fascinating video.
