Ti West seems talented at making films that stylistically fit their genre, at least for X, but seems to miss actually making a good movie.

The Sacrament is a good example of one that didn't work for me. It's supposed to be a 70s exploitation film take on Jonestown, which it nails. But I found it to be very boring until the last ten minutes.

I liked the characters in X. I liked the interactions between the main characters. I liked how the film was shot and directed. I just didn't like the actual movie.
