Being unaware this movie was coming and thinking the book trilogy was done I went a googling to find that in 2017 Lionsgate said "We want more movies" so Suzanne Collins said "Okay, I'll write another book I guess" and so an unplanned prequel book was born to give the Hollywood machine a prequel movie to run on and see if they've beaten this horse to death yet.

It's firmly within the YA genre but was an enjoyable read with a interesting insight into the background of the world of the Hunger games 60 years earlier.
