Pretty good for Transformers beating expectations which pegged it at an opening in the low 50s at best (and most people projecting Spider-Verse to win the weekend again).

Spider-verse is fantastic. Everyone should go see it. I've heard great things about Transformers but it's hard to imagine it's even close to as good as Spider-verse.

I've never seen any of the Bay and later Transformer movies, however I've seen enough clips and even taken out of context, the films look terrible and sometimes racist. Some scenes could be described as robot minstrel shows. Anyway, though I've heard that they've been improving, beginning with Bumblebee, I can't even begin to imagine the latest film even approaching the quality of Across the Spider-verse. </gatekeeping>

        Go see Spider-verse!

I liked the first one and thought the second was okay. Rest are forgettable or downright bad, until bumblebee. Would much rather watch spider verse again than any transformers movies though

I’m a big fan of the first three Bay films. I don’t necessarily think the twins (who you’re most likely referring to with the racist part) are directly racist I just think they’re funny. It’d be hard to make the argument that Bay is racist considering he went to bat to have two black leads in Bad Boys.

          Bumblebee is great though.

Fair enough, I know I'm gatekeeping here and it's not my intent to tell your opinion is wrong. I've not seen the full movies so if anything my opinion is probably the one to be taken with suspicion. That said, even someone we might not consider "big R" racist can be responsible for racist content. Especially viewed through the lens of history and changing social mores. I don't know. Who's to say, but I was put off by the twins as well as the robot taking a leak for laughs. I guess I'm kind of a grump?

I don't know exactly where I am missing the marketing on things, but this is literally the first I've heard of a new Transformers movie.
