We are already paying one of the highest subscription fees for streaming services and this will only just increase it. I know from myself and friends that many are already cutting way down on the number of streaming services due to costs, when we before gladly payed for several. I am not sure this will benefit the Danish film industry in the end. Let alone consumers.

Yeah, as a Dane, I don't have any subscriptions currently. I may get back to it if my VPN can be used to access more global content, instead of being so US centric. But it seems like streaming services takes offence at VPNs. I also don't like much of todays TV serials. I remember some good ones (Psych, Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, Bojack Horseman, Twin Peaks Season 3, Dark Mirror, Vis a Vis) but most often I just end up binging some pre-chewed cookie-cutter junk. So I prefer indie games and books, which I think offers more originality.

Anyhows, the streaming services are global operators. Even though it would be somewhat "fair" if the cost of producing Danish content would go from the Danish subscribers, I think it is more likely that the Danish subscription fees are based on a calculation on how much they can get away with without loosing market shares. I mean, the vast majority of their shows are from the US, and I doubt that means that the US fees are crazy high.

Also, I don't think a Danish film industry will be able to go about without anyone buying their products. So it makes sense to force the big players to invest in Danish movies if they want to sell to Danish consumers. Not that I care about Danish movies much, but I'd like it if non-US culture and idea could gain more ground.
