Blindsight is one of my favorite "big ideas" science fiction novels of all time, in part because it traipses through every philosophical model of consciousness until there's no such thing as a reliable narrator.

This short film would make a decent trailer for the movie/series version I'd like to see, but like other science fiction films, I think it would struggle with just how complex and fascinating each of the characters/consciousness models becomes in the story.

I've never really been a fan of anything, but regarding Peter Watts, I'm a shrieking groupie. And I can't even explain why. I've read all his books I could get my hands on multiple times and I don't think I've really fully grasped a single one of them.

If you like Blindsight, you should read Echopraxia (its sequel) and Starfish and its sequel(s).

Thank you! Echopraxia is the only one I haven't gotten to yet. Like you, I'm pretty reserved in my fandom for anything. I was so attached to Watts' work I helped bail him out of his U.S. border...

Never heard of the book before but after watching this and reading up on it a bit I'm definitely adding it to my reading list. Kinda funny, this short was basically a "trailer" for a book for me.

There's an interview with Peter Watts in Danil Krivoruchko's channel that's worth watching. I've never seen an author so utterly stoked about someone else's visual realization of their work.

What happens to us when we link together with technology? He suggests we might go away. He doesn’t seem very well informed on eastern, especially buddhist, thoughts on consciousness.
