Wife and I watched this last night and couldn't stop talking about it.
The fact that the entire escape was filmed is an amazing achievement in and of itself.
Without spoiling too much, I'll say that at least one person escapes successfully and you get to watch her shed the brainwashing in stages. At one point, she is shocked at how developed Vietnam is. She compliments Kim Jong Un's intelligence and wonders if the North Korean people are just stupid compared to the Vietnamese. She genuinely feels that they've let their leader down and that the people's failure is the only explanation for NK's lack of development.
For anyone interested, this also started the wife and I down a rabbit hole of rewatching some of my favorite videos about the DPRK.
Say what you will about VICE, but these videos are incredible. They work really well as follow ups for the documentary.
